Aguardente
12 Governor St
Providence, Rhode Island 02906
There is simply so much to say about Aguardente, but I will start by saying that it makes me endlessly happy to dine there. Based on small, sharable-sized plates, the menu reflects Portuguese and Guatemalan cuisine from family recipes. Lots of seafood options and traditional dishes like octopus, clams, sardines, etc. The cocktail menu is mean, highlighting mezcals and fine spirits. And of course Portuguese wines to pair with dinner. The vibe is intimate yet warm and welcoming. The space is small, so there are couch and nook set ups which are perfect for cocktails and bites with friends, along with their beautiful patio (which is heated through the winter!) Dont forget to save room for dessert, that flan is a must.
What we order: pasteis da bacalhau, sardine tin, chilled octopus, tula fries, rellanitos (with the chocolate sauce!), the seafood paella and the garlic shrimp.
